Opening Times
The city farm is open every day 9.30-4.30 during British Summer time and 9.30-4 in Winter. We are closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
How Much?
Entry is by donation, we suggest £2 per person.
Though we have very generous supporters we still rely on the support of the general public. It is estimated it costs £900 per day to run the farm and this is not counting emergency veterinary costs. Please help where you can.
Any donation whether in kind or through paypal, which is safe, secure and efficient, would be very welcome.
Whilst on the farm there are donation urns dotted around where you can contribute to the upkeep of this public green space.
Facilities
Our accessible child-friendly working farm has a range of farm animals and birds to see, including pets. There are a range of educational and volunteering opportunities. There is a play park, cafe, toilets, produce stall and several gardens.
Activities
Public small animal handling sessions are usually available at the Pet Lodge, Sundays and Thursdays, 2-3pm. Public pony rides will be offered where availability of trained personnel allows; mainly during school holidays, or by arrangement.
Please note (to avoid potential disappointment) that those handling sessions and rides offered for birthday parties are run by party staff (over and above core manpower for the day) and unfortunately it will usually not be possible to allow public handling / rides due to them being involved in the body of the party which follows these sections.
Seed may be purchased to feed the
poultry (hens, turkeys & ducks) only. No other feeding outwith
organised groups is allowed for our animals' safety [and weight
control!], especially of the
pony, Red.
Safety
We take the safety of our tens of thousands of visitors very seriously. Please alert staff if you have any concerns about aspect of your visit. Do not eat, drink or smoke in animal areas and wash your hands when you do. Smoking is only permitted at the picnic tables outside the cafe. Please respect our livestock by asking your children not to scare them. Teachers and others are welcome to use our sample visit risk-assessment, and should look at the HSE guidelines (PDF 78kb).
