We have 3 Tortoises. Our eldest is called Mrs Murdoch, she was born in 1956!
We have one Snake and his name is Dougal. He is about 10 years old and has been getting steadily longer.
Our bearded dragons are named Ice and Becks.
Ice, the smaller female was found on a footpath in the snow here in Edinburgh abandoned by her previous owners. She was rescued by the SSPCA and rehomed here at Gorgie Farm. She is quite active and loves to spend her time eating locusts.
Becks our larger male has lived with us for a few years. This enclosure is his domain. He protects his territory by puffing out his black beard (similar in manner to a bullfrog) and doing “push ups”.
The Guinea Pigs live in a big group made up of several females. Guinea Pigs are usually shy creatures but these ones have become rather bold. If you are quiet you’ll be able to see them running about and eating.
We have different types of rabbits at the farm. They are presently housed in our hatchery area.
Other people’s small pets, mainly rabbits, guinea pigs and rodents, come to stay here as part of the Boarding service, however these don’t stay in the same area. You can see them getting a chance to run about in the boarding area when the weather allows.
